Preventive Care

It may be tempting to skip your regular preventive care appointments at the dentist, but don’t do it! Even if you aren’t having symptoms, there can be underlying issues at work that can cause huge problems for you down the road. Your preventive care visit is designed to prevent serious dental issues.

Preventive appointments, biannually or as recommended by your dentist, include removal of plaque and tartar to keep decay from forming, professional teeth cleaning, a thorough oral exam, and x-rays if needed.

Fillings

If you have a cavity, you’re no longer stuck with obvious silver amalgam. We use tooth-colored fillings that blend with the natural color of your teeth. The fillings are barely visible and your white smile stays white.

The dentists at Eastmont Family Dental perform routine and wisdom teeth extractions. We are happy to discuss the process with you before the procedure so you know exactly what to expect.

Root Canals

Sometimes, decay extends into the roots of a tooth or a trauma will cause damage to a tooth’s root. This root contains pulp, or soft tissue that can become inflamed or infected. To treat the tooth, we perform a root canal. The procedure allows us to remove the pulp and clean the root thoroughly, fill the space with gutta percha, and cover the tooth with either a filling or a crown, depending on the remaining structure of the tooth.

LANAP

Gum disease, or periodontal disease, affects 85% of adults and is a chronic inflammatory disease that destroys the tissue and bone around the teeth. If left untreated, the disease can lead to receding gums, loss of bone, and ultimately, tooth loss. There is a connection between gum disease and a number of other serious medical conditions as well, such as: respiratory disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, certain cancers, heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, erectile dysfunction, HPV and pregnancy complications.
Our practice offers a minimally invasive periodontal surgery called the LANAP protocol and is the only laser periodontitis treatment scientifically and clinically proven to regenerate both new gum tissue, ligament and bone. During the procedure a dental laser is used to gently remove harmful germs and diseased tissue from the gum pocket, keeping healthy tissue intact and stimulating the release of growth factors, allowing the body to heal naturally.

CEREC® Same-Day Crowns

Creating and placing dental crowns used to be a procedure that took several appointments. Luckily, we have the CEREC® system! With CEREC®, we can create a 3D scan of your teeth — no more messy molds — that is used by our computer software to plan the size and shape of the crown. The CEREC® then actually mills the crown right in the office, so we can place it for you right away.

Dental Implants

If, for any reason, you lose a tooth it is important to fill the space left behind. When a gap in the teeth is not filled, the adjacent teeth may drift, causing misalignment of the bite surfaces. This can result in problems eating, difficult speech, and more. A dental implant is the permanent solution to replacing a tooth.

During the implant procedure, we will place a small titanium post in the jaw. When the titanium implant has fused to the jawbone, we will place a permanent crown over it. Once completed, your crown will look, feel, and function like a natural tooth.

Pinhole Surgery

Gingival (gum) grafting has become a much less invasive and uncomfortable process thanks to the Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST). This advancement allows our dentists to perform the necessary treatment with only a “pinhole” incision for each tooth that requires treatment. Gum surgery may be used to correct receding gums, cover exposed tooth roots, and other gum problems.

Oral Sleep Appliances

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common disorder that causes breathing pauses while you sleep. As a result, your quality of sleep suffers, making you tired during the day. Treatment for OSA depends on a doctor’s diagnosis. One effective option for mild to moderate OSA is the use of an oral appliance. Oral appliances are worn during sleep and support the jaw in a forward position, allowing the upper airway to stay open. We offer sleep devices that are easy to use, comfortable and alleviate snoring and symptoms of OSA.
